Bishop Gerald Glenn, the pastor of New Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Virginia has died, the church announced on Sunday. Glenn had tested positive for coronavirus, according to a video posted by his daughter Mar-Gerie Crawley.
In a sermon on March 22, a day before Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam issued his executive order banning all public and private gatherings of 10 people or more, Glenn told his congregation, “I firmly believe that God is larger than this dreaded virus,” and announced he was not afraid to die.
On April 4, Glenn’s daughter posted a video, announcing that both he and his wife, Marcietia Glenn, had tested positive for coronavirus.
The church’s post announcing Gerald Glenn’s death, asked that others would allow the “First Family to grieve in their own way.”
“While they are mourning the heartbreaking earthly absence of their family patriarch & spiritual father, they also have family members who are struggling to survive this dreaded pandemic,” the church’s Facebook post read.
Virginia pastor who defiantly held church service dies of coronavirus
An evangelical pastor died of COVID-19 just weeks after proudly showing off how packed his Virginia church was — and vowing to keep preaching “unless I’m in jail or the hospital.”
In his last known in-person service on March 22, Bishop Gerald O. Glenn got his congregation at Richmond’s New Deliverance Evangelistic Church to stand to prove how many were there despite warnings against gatherings of more than 10 people
I firmly believe that God is larger than this dreaded virus. You can quote me on that,” he said, repeating it a second time to claps, saying that “people are healed” in his church.
Happily announcing he was being “controversial” by being “in violation” of safety protocols — with “way more than 10 people” at the church — he vowed to keep his church open “unless I’m in jail or the hospital.”
“I am essential,” he said of remaining open, adding, “I’m a preacher — I talk to God!”
An Arkansas pastor who was recently struck with the deadly coronavirus along with his wife, Dena, and more than 30 others connected to his church is now warning others not to underestimate how dangerous the virus is and treat it with “wisdom and restraint.”
“There was very little in my training for the ministry that covered the full measure of what our church family has dealt with in the past few weeks,” pastor Mark Palenske of Greers Ferry First Assembly in Cleburne County said in a statement on Facebook Sunday.
“The intensity of this virus has been underestimated by so many, and I continue to ask that each of you take it very seriously. An act of wisdom and restraint on your part can be the blessing that preserves the health of someone else.”
The church didn’t immediately respond to calls from The Christian Post for comment, but Donald Shipp, a deacon of the church, told The Arkansas Democrat Gazette on Monday that at least 34 people connected with the church have tested positive for the virus and several others are still awaiting results. All of them attended a children’s event held at the church from March 5-8.
Of those who tested positive for the virus, 31 are on staff at the church or are members, Shipp said. The others are two evangelists who led the children’s event and a child who was visiting.
Palenske warned on his Facebook page that the virus is “highly contagious” and his wife got so sick she had to be hospitalized along with several other members of their church.

The Basic Rules of being a follower of Jesus Christ and calling yourself a Christian
Generally? The basic rules of Christianity, even from those whom I debate and they say the Fake Christians are not the True Christians and a True Follower of Jesus acts this way, describe a True Christian this way.
Love above all else is the rule. If you do not love your neighbors which is all your fellow human being? Even those whom YOU consider your enemy? Then you cannot call yourself a True Christian. If Jesus loved all of us? And we say we are a True Christian? Then we must love everyone else no matter what, just as Jesus did for you.
You cannot spread hate, violence, anger in the name of Jesus. Jesus could have killed all the Romans and his enemies if he wanted to. He did not preach hate, but love. He did not preach war but peace. He did not practice punching his enemy in the face but he turned the other cheek. Even when he was dying on that cross for you? He forgave those who put him up on that cross. He got mad at the false teachers and even stated? Any true follower of his? Should do the same. There is nothing wrong with going after the money changers, the false prophets, the preachers and teachers of hate. If he went after them and even turned over their tables in the very Temple? Then so should all True Christians do this to all those they declare Fake Christians.
You cannot judge anyone. Jesus commanded that you were never to judge others, unless YOU were completely without sin and could cast the first stone. That you were to go correct your brothers and sisters in love when they were wrong, but you were never to judge them worthy of heaven or hell, because only your God and Jesus can judge you worthy of either heaven or hell. And even the bible says to never judge another, for as you judge another the same judgement shall be given to you. And the same measure you use to judge another? Shall be the same measure used to judge you. So take the massive mote out of your own eye Christians, before you attempt to take the tiny mote out of my eyes.
You must always TURN the other cheek and forgive your enemies or those who slap you in the face even. And not once, but as many times as you need to. Not only must you turn the other cheek? You must also pray for those who slap that cheek or those whom you consider your enemy. You must NEVER allow the sun to set with anger or hate in your heart against anyone. This is how all True Christians are always supposed to act for it is just like your own Lord and Savior acted. Even before you go to a church? If you are mad at any of your brothers and sisters? You must first go make your peace with them before you even go before the altar of the church.

I am an atheist, but? I am also? A Humanist. I want to share what I use as an analogy for beliefs in a god and following a religion and non belief in a god and not a follower of a religion. This is not attempting to insult believers, but I believe it is a great analogy to use.
I use the analogy that all religions and religious beliefs to a rock. YOU want to worship a rock (ie god and no I am not trying to be insulting on this to you) then fine. Worship your rock. Love your rock, live by the rules of your rock. But? Do not take your rock? And smash someones face in with you rock because that person does not believe in your rock, believes in a different rock than you do, or no rock at all. Do not use your rock to harm any other human being.
Those of whom you use your rock to harm? Have every right to defend themselves against you using your rock to cause them harm. Just like you have a right to defend yourselves against someone who is TRULY using their rock to cause you harm. What I mean by this is? You cannot hypocritically claim that someone is truly using their rock to harm you? If you are in fact? Using your rock to persecute them first. Then claim because they are standing up to you? They are then using their rocks to cause you harm.
History has shown? People have used their rocks to cause other people great harm. This? Has to stop. Especially when the rock believer? 395 AD Two new edicts (22nd July and 7th August) cause new persecutions against Pagans. Rufinus, the eunuch Prime Minister of emperor Flavius Arcadius directs the hordes of the baptised Goths (led by Alaric) to the country of the Hellenes. Encouraged by Christian monks the barbarians sack and burn many cities (Dion, Delphi, Megara, Corinth, Pheneos, Argos, Nemea, Lycosoura, Sparta, Messene, Phigaleia, Olympia, etc.), slaughter or enslave innumerable gentile Hellenes and burn down all the temples. Among others, they burn down the Eleusinian Sanctuary and burn alive all its priests (including the hierophant of Mithras Hilarius).
401 AD The Christian mob of Carthage lynches non-Christians and destroys temples and “idols”. In Gaza too, the local bishop “Saint” Porphyrius sends his followers to lynch Pagans and to demolish the remaining 9 still active temples of the city. The 15th Council of Chalkedon orders all the Christians that still keep good relations with their gentile relatives to be excommunicated (even after their death).
408 AD The emperor of the Western Empire, Honorius, and the emperor of the Eastern Empire, Arcadius, order together all the sculptures of the Pagan temples to be either destroyed or to be taken away. Private ownership of Pagan sculpture is also outlawed. The local bishops lead new heavy persecutions against the Pagans and new book burning. The judges that have pity for the Pagans are also persecuted. “Saint” Augustine massacres hundreds of protesting Pagans in Calama, Algeria.
415 AD In Alexandria, Egypt, the Christian mob, urged by the bishop Cyrillus, attacks a few days before the Judaeo-Christian Pascha (Easter) and cuts to pieces the famous and beautiful philosopher Hypatia. The pieces of her body, carried around by the Christian mob through the streets of Alexandria, are finally burned together with her books in a place called Cynaron. On 30th August, new persecutions start against all the Pagan priests of North Africa who end their lives either crucified or burned alive.
482 to 488 AD The majority of the Pagans of Minor Asia are exterminated after a desperate revolt against the emperor and the Church.
546 AD Hundreds of Pagans are put to death in Constantinople by the inquisitor Ioannis Asiacus.
562 AD Mass arrests, burlesquing, tortures, imprisonments and executions of gentile Hellenes in Athens, Antioch, Palmyra and Constantinople.
578 to 582 AD The Christians torture and crucify gentile Hellenes all around the Eastern Empire, and exterminate the last non-Christians of Heliopolis (Baalbek).
580 AD The Christian inquisitors attack a secret temple of Zeus in Antioch. The priest commits suicide, but the rest of the Pagans are arrested. All the prisoners, the Vice Governor Anatolius included, are tortured and sent to Constantinople to face trial. Sentenced to death they are thrown to the lions. The wild animals being unwilling to tear them to pieces, they end up crucified. Their dead bodies are dragged in the streets by the Christian mob and afterwards thrown unburied in the dump.

Donald MacGillivray (below), a reserve army chaplain in Canada, made a ridiculous comment in an opinion piece for the Cape Breton Post:
War is about life and death and because it is so, it raises questions about meaning. All people search for meaning, as it is part of what it is to be human.

That old expression: “There are no atheists in foxholes,” I think really rings true because these big life questions are pondered perhaps a bit more by those involved in war.
Of course, there are plenty of atheists in foxholes. There are organizations dedicated to atheists in foxholes. There are intelligent atheists who think very deeply about the “big life questions” precisely because they serve in the military. It’s not just ignorance on MacGillivray’s part; it’s slander.
And while we’re on the topic of ignoring atheists, the American military still doesn’t allow Humanists to become chaplains and Emma Green at the Atlanticexplores why that reality is so absurd:
[Army major Ray] Bradley thinks specificity is important, though; not all non-theistic religions belief systems are created equal. “When you say you’re a humanist, it’s your life system, belief system; it’s what drives you,” he said. “Being a humanist means as much to an individual as being a Christian or a Muslim.”
But he’s not convinced that atheists need their own chaplain. “I would fully agree that an atheist chaplain is an oxymoron,” he said. “A-[theism] is antithetical to the idea of chaplaincy.”
[Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty executive director Ron] Crews agreed. “I would question how an atheist chaplain could fulfill his duties,” he said. “The motto [of the Army chaplaincy] is ‘for God and country’ — how could an atheist fulfill that motto if by definition he does not believe in God?”
On the other hand, atheists also have counseling needs, and may be alienated by theistic language — this was one of the reasons why the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers was founded, said Jason Torpy, the president. With the rejection of Jason Heap’s application for the chaplaincy, “the Navy seems to be going on-record as ‘God-only,’” he added. “If that’s the case, it calls into question the whole institution.”
While atheists don’t need religious guidance, many would be served well by access to non-religious counselors who understand their mindset.

Meanwhile, of all non-Christian groups, atheists and agnostics are the largest minority, yet the other faith groups still have their own chaplains:
I’m convinced the only reason atheists don’t have chaplains right now is because that anti-atheist mindset — that there are no atheists in foxholes or that it would be un-American or unnecessary to provide atheists with chaplains — is still in full force. This should be a no-brainer.
In a time when politicians are already under fire for not providing enough help and support for our troops, this is just another way we’re falling short — and one of the easiest to fix.
