Trump Hate Map: People of Color Harrassed by Trump and His Supporters

We’ve seen the proof since his campaign launch in June 2015.

http://americasvoice.org/trump-hate-map/

President-elect Donald Trump’s xenophobic rhetoric didn’t just push his fellow candidates to the right on immigration (in what has become known as the “Trump Effect”). It’s gone beyond the political world and injected itself into everyday life — and, in many instances across dozens of states, in a very violent ways.

This map shows documented instances where President-elect Donald Trump, his supporters, or his staff have harassed or attacked Latinos, immigrants, Muslim-American, African-Americans, and other minority and marginalized groups.

You can view individual incidents on the map by clicking directly on the Trump head “markers,” or you can click on the box-shaped symbol at the top left corner of the map to see a pull-down list of the incidents.

Brief Summary Man Charged With Assault After Punching Black Man And Telling Him Donald Trump Will Deport Him

Detailed Description A trio of Bangor City Council members is denouncing what they say was a hate crime against a black man in downtown Bangor Friday night. Police charged Joshua Pendergast, 42, of Bangor with misdemeanor assault late Monday.

Bangor City Council Chair Joe Baldacci, writing Sunday on his Facebook page, said, “[Two] days ago near Essex and Somerset streets in Bangor a young African American man was punched in the face and pushed to the ground, without any provocation, by an individual who after the assault told the African American man to watch out because Trump could deport him.

“Let’s be clear Bangor does not tolerate this kind of behavior,” Baldacci added.

Similar Facebook messages were posted by Councilors Sarah Nichols and Ben Sprague, who said he was sickened by the reported attack.

Brief Summary The Family Of A Young Biracial Boy Says He Was Hung By A Rope By Teenagers

Detailed Description The family of an 8-year-old biracial boy in Claremont, New Hampshire, said a group of teenagers hurled rocks at him, called him racially charged words, and then pulled a rope around his neck and hung him.

The boy’s grandmother, Lorrie Slattery, said the incident occurred on an afternoon in late August when her grandson was playing with teenagers in the neighborhood in a backyard.

“The (teenagers) said, ‘Look at this,’ supposedly putting the rope around their necks,” Slattery told the Valley News. “One boy said to (her grandson), ‘Let’s do this,’ and then pushed him off the picnic table and hung him.” The boy survived.

The alleged details of the events are based on Slattery’s account, which itself is based on what the boy and his 11-year-old sister, who was present, told their mother, Cassandra Merlin.

The boy’s uncle, Lyric Merlin, posted a photo of the boy’s injured neck on Facebook on Aug. 28, the day of the alleged incident.

“My nephew was hung from a tree by a 14yr old who claims ‘it was an accident,” Merlin wrote. “I don’t care what kind of excuse this teenager has but you DO NOT play with somebody’s life.”

Brief Summary South Boston brothers plead guilty to brazen beating

Detailed Description It was not enough for two South Boston brothers to urinate on a sleeping homeless man in August. They punched him repeatedly, and beat him with a metal pole. They called him a “wetback.”

Then they high-fived each other and walked away.

On Monday, the brothers — Scott Leader, 38, and Steven Leader, 30 — pleaded guilty to several felony charges in the unprovoked attack, including assault and battery, intimidation, and civil rights violations.

Scott Leader, who prosecutors said has a history of hate crimes against minorities, was sentenced to three years in state prison. Steven Leader was sentenced to at least two years behind bars.

Both sentences are followed by three years of probation.

One of the South Boston brothers accused of beating and urinating on the victim said he was inspired in part by Donald Trump.

The Dorchester attack drew national attention because of its random cruelty and explicit nature. Prosecutors said the men beat 58-year-old Guillermo Rodriguez because they thought he was an illegal immigrant. Scott Leader told police the violence was acceptable because the victim was homeless and Hispanic.

“Donald Trump was right, all these illegals need to be deported,” Scott Leader said after the attack, according to authorities.

In a mostly empty Boston courtroom, Suffolk Superior Court Justice Peter B. Krupp denounced the attack as “cowardly and despicable.”

Suffolk County prosecutor Nicole Rimar said the incident “was an unprovoked attack on a sleeping man based completely off racial hostility.”

Detailed Description Police in North Brookfield are investigating a possible hate crime after a 14-year-old African-American boy reported a passenger in a car threw a hatchet at him and yelled a racial slur as he walked home from school, an official said.

The boy got off the bus near South Main Street and was heading home when around 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, when two people drove by in a black Jeep, Officer Chris Donais said.

“The passenger opened up the door, threw what appeared to be hatchet at him, yelled a racial slur, and drove off,” Donais said during a telephone interview Wednesday night. The passenger’s face was covered during the alleged incident, and nobody reported seeing it happen.

The boy was not injured, according to Donais. Police were unable to locate the hatchet or find the suspects and their car.

Brief Summary Trump Supporters Bombard Nurse, Children With Threats

Detailed Description A home health care nurse in Maine said this week that supporters of President-elect Donald Trump have attacked her and her family with more than 100 calls because conservative websites published the wrong number.

Debbie Oram explained to the Bangor Daily News that the callers are upset at the owner of Turner LP Gas, who said he would not deliver gas to anyone who voted for the president-elect because he believes Trump is the antichrist.

Although Oram has no connection to the gas company, she has received more than 100 calls since Friday. It turns out that her number is one digit off from the number of the gas company. While some of the callers have been polite, the nurse said others have been downright scary.

“I’d appreciate anything you can do to put it out there so these calls will stop,” Oram told the paper. “I would hate to change my number but that’s what I’ll have to do if this doesn’t stop. We’ve had our number for years.”

According to Oram, some of the calls threatened her 21-year-old daughter and her 11-year-old son. Her son was so frightened that he began sleeping in his mother’s bedroom.

“They’re saying rude and disgusting things,” she remarked. “I had to go to my doctor today for more anxiety medication because of it.”

Brief Summary Arsonist’s threat to ‘torture’ immigrants a hate crime, say Charlotte police

Detailed Description An attempt to burn an east Charlotte store that included a note warning of plans to “torture” immigrants is being investigated as a hate crime by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

Police say officers were called at 9:59 p.m. Thursday to a fire at the Central Market, a Nepali Indian store at 5718 Albemarle Road in Charlotte. On arrival, officers were advised by the Charlotte Fire Department that the fire was contained to the front door and burned itself out by their arrival.

Investigators say one of the windows in the door had been broken out with a rock and a note was left near the door. The note stated “the suspect did not want any refugee business owners and that they would torture the owner if they did not leave and go back to where they came from,” according to police.

It was signed “White America.”

Brief Summary Man Charged With Battery After Punching Latino Worker In Back Of Head \”For Donald Trump\”

Detailed Description hite Florida man has been charged with battery after he was accused of punching an Hispanic man in the back of the head “for Donald Trump.”

The Gainesville Sun reported that the incident occurred on Nov. 10 while the victim was cleaning the parking lot at a Gate Food Post store in Gainesville.

According to a police report obtained by Egberto Willies, Caleb Joseph Illig arrived at the parking lot at around 1:10 a.m. and began punching Pablo Echevarria in the back of the head.

The report said that Illig shouted, “Let’s Trump down,” as he punched Echevarria. When Echevarria asked why he was being attacked, Illig reportedly replied, “This is for Donald Trump.”

The charging document stated that Echevarria attempted “evasive movements” instead of fighting back. Eventually another employee intervened and Illig fled the scene. Echevarria told police that the back of his head and his neck were in pain after the attack but it was not immediately clear if he received medical assistance.

Police said that security footage “clearly shows [Illig] striking [Echevarria] in the back of the head, and completely corroborates the [victim] and [witness’] accounts of the incident.”

On Nov. 20, Illig told officers that he had “no recollection of the incident whatsoever,” and suggest that bipolar disorder and alcohol were to blame.

Illig was charged with simple battery.

Brief Summary Armed Trump Supporter Intimidates Woman And Child At Polling Location

Detailed Description A man wearing a Donald Trump shirt and carrying a weapon stood outside a voting location in Loudoun County, Virginia, on Friday. Authorities in the nation’s richest county are apparently OK with that.

Erika Cotti encountered the man when she went to vote at the county’s registrar’s office, she told The Huffington Post. Virginia doesn’t have early voting per se, but voters can cast in-person absentee ballots for a host of reasons, like if they’re going to be out of the county or city on Election Day.

“I had my 9-year-old son with me. I felt intimidated,” Cotti said. “And I had to explain to my 9-year-old why a man with a 357 magnum is standing outside the polling station.”

Cotti said the man offered her a Republican sample ballot, which she declined.

“He’s like, ‘Who are you going to vote for, crooked Hillary?’ And I was like, that’s really none of your business,” Cotti said, adding that the man was standing in the sidewalk outside of the office when they left and blocking their path.

Judy Brown, Loudoun County registrar, confirmed that the man was standing outside her office in Leesburg and handing out GOP literature.

“There is a gentleman standing outside the office with a holstered gun,” Brown told HuffPost. “According to law enforcement, because Virginia is open carry, he’s allowed to have it.”

Brief Summary “Black Lives Don’t Matter”, “Ni**er”: Trump Supporter Attacks Black Driver

Detailed Description 29-year-old Brandon Levston says he became the victim of a horrifying and racially charged verbal assault ― one he says shows “exactly why” people need to get out and vote Tuesday.

The incident occurred in a parking lot outside a Memphis shopping mall after Levston was involved in a traffic altercation with a white male driver, The Commercial Appeal reported.

“What’s up, buddy?” the man, a supporter of Republican nominee Donald Trump, says after Levston began filming the encounter. “Hey, Trump. Trump all the way! Trump!”

Then the bigot shows his true colors, calling Levston a “n****r” numerous times, mocking the black man’s speech and coaching him on the definition of words like “matter” ― as in “black lives don’t matter” ― and racial epithets.

Brief Summary Florida Man Accused of Setting Store Fire Thought Owners were Muslims

Detailed Description A 64-year-old Fort Pierce man who wanted to “run the Arabs out of of our country” remains jailed Saturday on $30,000 bond, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.

Richard Leslie Lloyd  was arrested Friday after he tried to set fire to a Port St. Lucie convenience store, the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office said. Lloyd reportedly told investigators he assumed the owner of a convenience store at Prima Vista and Airoso boulevards was Muslim and it made him mad “due to what they are doing in the Middle East.”

He was taken into custody after investigators responded shortly after 7:30 a.m. to reports of a suspicious person at the Met Mart convenience store. Deputies arrived to find that a dumpster had been rolled in front of the doors on the convenience store and set on fire.

Upon seeing deputies, Lloyd put his hands behind his back and said “take me away,” Sheriff Ken Mascara said. The St. Lucie County Fire District extinguished the fire. The store was not open and its security shutters were closed and intact.

“It’s unfortunate that Mr. Lloyd made the assumption that the store owners were Muslim when, in fact, they are of Indian descent,” Mascara said. “Regardless, we will not tolerate violence based on age, race, color, ancestry, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, homeless status, mental or physical disability.”

Brief Summary Man Kills One, Injures Two Whom He Suspected Were Iranians

Detailed Description Less than five hours after a man shot up a Kansas bar, killing one Indian man and wounding two other people in an apparently racially motivated attack, an Applebee’s bartender 70 miles away made a 911 call.

The woman on the phone told the dispatcher that a man had come into her bar and told her he “had done something really bad and he was on the run from the police.”

The man wouldn’t tell her what he did but kept asking her to allow him to stay at her house. The bartender persisted, persuading him to tell her what happened. “He said he shot and killed two Iranian people in Olathe,” the bartender said.

She read the news and sure enough, noticed that a few hours earlier, a shooting had taken place in Olathe, a city about 20 miles southwest of Kansas City. Her 911 call, later released by a local television station, led authorities to locate Adam Purinton, 51, of Olathe, late Wednesday and take him into custody. The phone call recording supports witness statements that the bar shooter thought the two men, Srinivas Kuchibhotla and Alok Madasani, were of Middle Eastern descent.

They were actually Indian nationals employed by the technology firm Garmin. They had received master’s degrees in the United States. Kuchibhotla died from his injuries Wednesday, and Madasani was released from the hospital the following day. An American who was wounded when he tried to intervene, Ian Grillot, remains hospitalized but continues to improve, doctors said.

Brief Summary School District Apologizes After White Students Flash Trump Sign, Turn Backs On Black Players

Detailed Description A group of cowboy hat-clad high school students turned their backs and displayed a Donald Trump sign as the starting roster for a predominantly black basketball team was announced before a game in Missouri.

The pregame prank at Warrensburg High School occurred as the home team prepared for tipoff against the visiting Center High School Yellowjackets on Monday evening.

A Facebook video, viewed over 630,000 times by Thursday morning, shows a group of at least two dozen students with their backs turned to the court. Some of the students are wearing camo overalls and cowboy hats, and a Trump/Pence campaign sign can be seen held up among them.

“Let it be known how RACIST Warrensburg High School students are,” a caption read to the video, recorded by an attendee. “I’m appalled by the nonsense I’ve just witnessed with my own two eyes…If this was the Yellowjackets house, nothing but RESPECT would’ve been giving to these cowards.”

Warrensburg superintendent Scott Patrick condemned the Trump-tinged theatrics.

Brief Summary Attack on Milwaukee Muslim woman was a hate crime, local and national groups say

Detailed Description National and local Muslim civil rights and advocacy groups are calling for Milwaukee police to investigate as a hate crime an attack on a Muslim woman who says a man demanded she remove her hijab and beat her.

“You can’t get a clearer hate crime than this,” said Janan Najeeb, president of the Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition.

“This was not a robbery,” Najeeb said Wednesday. “There was an individual telling her to take her scarf off, ripped it off and started beating her up. This is clearly a hate crime.”

The woman, who has not been publicly identified, told a local TV station she was walking near S. 13th St. and W. Layton Ave. about 6 a.m. Monday when a car pulled alongside her and a man got out, demanding she take off her hijab, or head scarf.

The woman tried to fight him and “he threw me on the floor, then he beat me like an animal,” the woman told WITI-TV (Channel 6). The man drew a knife and slashed at her clothing, said the woman, who showed the cameras her bloodstained head scarf.

After the woman got home, she suffered a seizure and went to the hospital. She was released Tuesday.

Brief Summary We’re Going to Kill All Of You

Detailed Description Three Fargoans, originally from Somalia, were stopped Tuesday evening outside of Walmart by a white woman from Mapleton and threatened while dozens of onlookers did nothing to intervene.

The women who were verbally attacked, Rowda Soyan, Sarah and Laleyla Hassan, were enjoying a day off from work when a blonde woman approached. Before they could enter the store around 5:30 p.m., the incident began, and video footage started halfway through the exchange.

“You’re a racist person, and I’m not going back to my country,” Soyan said in near-perfect English in the video.

“I’m an American,” the white woman, who later commented on Facebook about the Youtube video, said. According to the post her name is Amber Elizabeth Hensley, and she is a CPA for Horab & Wentz.

“What are you going to do?” Soyan said.

“We’re going to kill all of you, we’re going to kill every one of you fucking Muslims.”

“I am making a video and I am going to show it to the police,” Soyan said.

“Do you think the police care? Why are you in our country anyway?”

The incident marks the fifth such case this year, Hukun Abdullahi, co-founder of United African Youths, and founder of Afro American Development Association, said.

“It is happening, and I think this must be stopped,” Abdullahi said. “I don’t see any leaders condemning this issue. This will keep continuing.”

During the incident, people entering and exiting the Walmart on 13th Avenue stopped to watch, but no one tried to help.

“No one stood up for us, nobody even said a word, it was a scary moment for all of us,” Soyan said. “She went on and on, and it was really really scary. Out of nowhere, she just came and said those hateful words. It was an ‘Are you out of your mind’ moment?”

Soyan called police, and a report was made under case number 17-61490. Fargo Police were contacted for comment, but were not available.

“Her car had a Trump sign, and she said he’s the one who is going to send us back to our country,” Soyan said.

Brief Summary Iowa Elementary School Vandalized With \”Trump\”, \”KKK\”

Detailed Description Muscatine police are investigating after racial slurs were spray-painted on McKinley Elementary School over the holiday weekend. The school was marred by derogatory words pertaining to the gay community and black people. The spray paint covered walls, windows and even playground equipment. Educators at McKinley say they were at a loss for words when they first heard about what happen to their school.

For school administrator Lori Shield, the derogatory words written on the side of the school were heartbreaking.

“What goes through my head is, how can anyone be that hateful.” said Shield, who’s been with the school for 11 years. “Especially at a school, where we’re teaching innocence and pride and respect.”

Shield says even though the words are gone now, the reality that the kids were exposed to hatred is what hurts the most.

“Very emotional, when I came around the building and saw the wording it hurt me a great deal, this building and the people in it are my family,” said Shields.

Brief Summary Man Charged With Making Bomb Threats Against Jewish Community Centers

Detailed Description A former reporter for a news website was charged on Friday with making more than a half-dozen bomb threats against Jewish community centers, schools and a Jewish history museum, federal authorities said.

The man, Juan Thompson, 31, of St. Louis, made some of the threats using his own name and others implicating a former girlfriend as part of an effort to intimidate her, the authorities said in a federal complaint unsealed on Friday in Federal District Court in Manhattan.

In one threat, made on Feb. 1 against a Jewish school in Farmington Hills, Mich., the complaint says, Mr. Thompson claimed he had placed two bombs in the school and was “eager for Jewish newtown,” an apparent reference to the 2012 school massacre in Newtown, Conn., in which a gunman killed 20 students and six school employees.

Brief Summary A California waiter refused to serve 4 Latina women until he saw ‘proof of residency’

Detailed Description As the waiter walked up to the table, Carrillo figured she’d splurge on the grilled-cheese sandwich and pay the $2 up-charge to add some of the restaurant’s signature bacon. To start, maybe she’d share a watermelon and cheese plate with her sister and friends.

But the mood soured quickly after the waiter appeared. Before he could serve the four Latina women, he said, they needed to show proof of residency. “I need to make sure you’re from here,” he said.

Flummoxed, the four women handed over their IDs. But as what was happening sank in, they fumed. “I looked at my sister and [my friend], and I said, did he really just say that?”

A few moments later, they walked over to the manager and told him what had happened. He offered them a separate section and his business card to make things right — but they had already decided to leave.

Still livid a few hours later, Carrillo, a 24-year-old business analyst from Orange County, Calif., posted about the incident on Facebook:

“For a few seconds I thought maybe he was being a smart a– or joking but the fact that he said ‘I need to make sure you’re from here before I serve you’ was completely unacceptable.

How many others has he said this too? I hope this employee is reprimanded for his actions. No establishment should tolerate discriminatory actions from their employees. PLEASE SHARE WITH YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS!”

People did. In a week, Carrillo’s post had been shared more than 600 times, and more than 100 people had posted comments.

Seeing the social media backlash, the restaurant’s management contacted Carrillo that Monday. They offered a VIP experience at the restaurant and pledged to donate 10 percent of the weekend’s proceeds to a nonprofit organization of the group’s choice. The four women declined the lavish meal, but asked that the restaurant donate the money to Orange County Immigrant Youth United.

Brief Summary Washington Woman charged With hate-crime After Trailing Latina Driver And Threatening To Ram Her Car

Detailed Description A King County woman was charged with a hate crime after allegedly posting a video on Facebook that prosecutors say shows her tailing a Hispanic woman in her car, railing against the other driver for having “Spanish privilege” and threatening to ram her vehicle.

Sandra Jametski, 48, of White Center, was has been held on $500,000 bail since early December, charged with malicious harassment, the state’s hate crime statute. Jametski is also known as Sandra Diann Huddleson.

King County prosecutors said Jametski followed a neighbor as the neighbor drove to her child’s school and that she recorded her racist rant on her phone.

“This person wrecked my car, lied to a frickin’ cop,” Jametski appears to say on the Facebook video. “You get a super good look everybody, this is what calls to be Spanish privileged in America.”

The video, which is being used as evidence in case, appears to record Jametski as her voice grows angrier and the dialogue becomes laced with obscenities as she claims that the driver caused an earlier crash.

“This is America. We don’t drive like that here. We don’t drive like you’re in Mexico, lady,” the woman said in the video before making remarks about citizenship and deportation.

Prosecutors said Jametski filmed the 10-minute video as she followed the woman on her usual 2½-mile drive to her son’s school. Once at the school parking lot, videos show Jametski getting out of her vehicle and angrily confronting the woman while still recording.

On April 29, Christian showed up to the right-wing “March for Free Speech” on 82nd Avenue in Montavilla with a baseball bat in an attempt to assault left-wing protesters. The bat was quickly confiscated by Portland police officers. He ranted how he was a nihilist. He’d soon yelled racial slurs (“fuck all you n*****s”) and gave the Nazi salute throughout the day. He yelled “Hail Vinland” throughout the day.

A few Portland police officers on April 29 appeared to be familiar with Christian, but not threatened by him. They claimed he had a head injury and was mentally ill.

Brief Summary Hate Crime Suspect: ‘Arab, You Need to Leave’

Detailed Description A man was arrested after an altercation at Al-Aqsa Restaurant on State Street in Salem.

Jason Kendall, 52, is accused of attacking a restaurant employee with a pipe and telling him to “go back to your country, terrorist,” court documents state.

According to the officer’s report, the victim said Kendall was yelling and screaming, causing a disturbance in the restaurant. The victim reportedly asked Kendall to leave, and he did. But he came back 5 minutes later yelling, “get out of America,” and ” Arab, you need to leave, a**hole.”

The victim said Kendall threw something plastic at him, hitting him in the head, according to court documents. Kendall then came at him with a pipe and allegedly used it to him over the head. The victim said it left a small bump on his head.

After he was arrested, Kendall told the officer he saw a “Saddam Hussein looking guy” and he believed a woman in the restaurant was a slave. He said he went inside to tell her she was “free to leave.”

Kendall said he also saw an “evil totem” with Arabic writing on it. He told police he threw the “totem” at the victim. He said the man in the restaurant had something in his hand under a napkin, which he thought was an ice pick. Kendall said he defended himself by hitting the man in the head with a metal pipe.

Kendall was charged with felony assault and unlawful use of a weapon and misdemeanor intimidation. According to the arresting officer’s statement, the incident is being considered a hate crime.

Brief Summary Two Cops Were Fired After Allegedly Beating A Man And Calling Him A \”Fake American\”

Detailed Description Two rookie police officers in New Orleans were fired Wednesday after they allegedly beat up a Latino man and called him a “fake American.”

Spencer Sutton and John Galman were arrested and charged with simple battery following the incident that occurred at a bar on Tuesday when the two former New Orleans Police Department officers were off duty. They pleaded not guilty to charges after a court hearing on Wednesday. Their bond was set at $1,500 each.

An ongoing police investigation will determine whether they will face more serious charges. A police and FBI task force is “actively looking into whether this case meets the elements of a potential civil rights violation,” an NOPD spokesperson told BuzzFeed News.

Trump Suggests ‘MAGA’ Fans Gather, Makes Military Threat

Trump Suggests ‘MAGA’ Fans Gather, Makes Military Threat

Donald Trump encouraged his supporters to rally at the White House, inviting a potentially dangerous mix of protesters after people angry about the death of an unarmed black man in Minnesota police custody skirmished with the Secret Service on Friday.

He threatened “the unlimited power” of the U.S. military to clamp down on demonstrations, tweeting from Air Force One as he traveled to Cape Canaveral, Florida, for the launch of a SpaceX spacecraft. The military is “ready, willing and able” to assist, Trump said earlier.

In a series of tweets early on Saturday, Trump also seemed to revel in the potential for violence outside the White House, warning that Friday’s protesters would have been met by “the most vicious dogs” and “most ominous weapons” had they dared to breach the fence around the property.

He depicted Secret Services agents as eager to battle the demonstrators, and later issued an appeal to his supporters to assemble: “Tonight, I understand, is MAGA NIGHT AT THE WHITE HOUSE???”

Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser rebuked the president in her own series of tweets, calling him “a scared man. Afraid/alone” and saying she stood with people peacefully protesting the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis this week.

Those demonstrations were not altogether peaceful, though. The Secret Service said in a statement that it arrested six people and that “multiple” personnel from the agency were injured when protesters assaulted them with “bricks, rocks, bottles, fireworks and other items.”

Videos from Friday’s demonstration showed protesters chasing journalists from the park and throwing objects at officers wearing riot gear, and Secret Service officers responding with pepper spray.

Contrary to Trump’s assertion that Bowser “wouldn’t let the D.C. police get involved,” the Secret Service said the city’s police and U.S. Park Police were also on the scene of the protests.

Call for Restraint

Bowser called a press conference on Saturday to discuss the situation. “I call upon our city and our nation to exercise great restraint, even while the president tries to divide us,” she said.

Trump told reporters he had “no idea” if his boosters would assemble on Saturday night at the White House.

“I heard that MAGA wanted to be there — that a lot of MAGA was going to be there,” Trump said as he departed the White House, using the acronym for “Make America Great Again.”

Washington on Friday entered “Phase One” of its reopening from coronavirus stay-at-home restrictions. Large gatherings of people are currently prohibited.

Trump also tweeted that “ANTIFA and the Radical Left” were stoking protests against Floyd’s death, a day after saying he understood the “pain” that demonstrators were feeling. “Antifa,” short for anti-fascist, is sometimes used to describe militant left-wing activists.

Attorney General William Barr made a brief televised statement to make similar comments, tying the protests to “groups of outside radicals and agitators exploiting the situation.”

“It is a federal crime to cross state lines or to use interstate facilities to incite or participate in violent rioting. We will enforce these laws,” Barr said. He took no questions.

Minnesota officials, including the state’s Democratic governor, echoed Trump’s suggestion that organized agitators were exploiting anger about the death of Floyd, a 46-year-old unarmed black man.

“The situation in Minneapolis is no longer in any way about the murder of George Floyd,” Governor Tim Walz said. “It is about attacking civil society, instilling fear and disrupting our great cities.”

Video showed a white police officer in Minneapolis kneeling on Floyd’s neck to the point the arrested man could no longer breathe. The officer, Derek Chauvin, was arrested Friday and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter.

In Washington, demonstrators gathered in a park across from the White House around dusk on Friday, briefly causing the compound to be locked down. It was just one of a string of protests around the country, from Atlanta to Oakland, California.

This is why Trump, his Kristo Kracker Krazies and Trumpturds FEAR Anti-Fascists.

Safe Inside

Trump said he “watched every move” of Friday’s protests outside the White House, and couldn’t have felt more safe.”

Had protesters breached the complex’s fence, they would have faced “the most vicious dogs, and most ominous weapons,” Trump said. “That’s when people would have been really badly hurt, at least.”

Bowser said in her briefing that Trump’s reference to attack dogs was “no subtle reminder to African-Americans of segregationists that let dogs out on women, children and innocent people in the South.” She called the comments “an attack on humanity.”

Friday night’s protests came on a day after Trump appeared to threaten violence against certain demonstrators, tweeting overnight that “when the looting starts, the shooting starts.”

The phrase echoed a remark made in 1967 by a white Miami police chief when announcing tougher policing policies for the Florida city’s black neighborhoods. In a rare reversal, Trump later said his tweet wasn’t intended as a threat, but merely meant to discourage looting that has historically coincided with violence.

Trump also said he’d spoken with Floyd’s family and that he understood the hurt and pain of demonstrators.

“We have peaceful protesters, and support the rights for peaceful protesters,” Trump said Friday. “We can’t allow a situation like in Minneapolis to descend further into lawless anarchy and chaos.

But Trump is Not A Racist: Trump Retweets Racist Video Showing Supporter Yelling ‘White Power’

Trump Retweets Racist Video Showing Supporter Yelling ‘White Power’
By Michael D Sheer
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-retweets-racist-video-showing-supporter-yelling-white-power/ar-BB164yHR?li=BBnb7Kz

President Trump on Sunday retweeted a video of one of his supporters yelling “White power!,” once again using the vast reach of his social media platforms to inflame racial divisions in a nation roiled by weeks of protests about police brutality against black people and demands for social justice reforms.

The edited racist video shows a white man riding in a golf cart bearing “Trump 2020” and “America First” signs during what appears to be an angry clash over the president and race between white residents of a Florida retirement community. Mr. Trump deleted the tweet more than three hours after posting it.

In response to a protester shouting “Where’s your white hood?” and other taunts, the man in the golf cart pumps his fist in the air and says “White power!” twice. The two-minute video continues to show profane exchanges between protesters and other Trump supporters riding on more golf carts.

The president retweeted the video to his millions of followers just after 7:30 a.m., thanking “the great people of The Villages,” the Florida retirement community where the clash apparently took place. He added: “The Radical Left Do Nothing Democrats will Fall in the Fall. Corrupt Joe is shot. See you soon!!!”

The tweet was widely criticized as racist and insensitive, and again demonstrated the president’s willingness use social media to amplify some of the most hateful commentary of some of his followers, even at a moment of national unrest.

Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, the only black Republican senator, called the video “offensive” and asked Mr. Trump to take it off his Twitter page.

“There is no question he should not have retweeted it, and he should just take it down,” Mr. Scott said on the CNN program “State of the Union.” “We can play politics with it or we can’t. I’m not going to. I think it’s indefensible. We should take it down.”

Mr. Trump deleted it less than an hour after Mr. Scott’s comments, but he did not condemn the “white power” statement or specifically disavow the sentiment expressed by his supporter.

Judd Deere, a White House spokesman, said Mr. Trump “is a big fan of The Villages.”

“He did not hear the one statement made on the video,” Mr. Deere said. “What he did see was tremendous enthusiasm from his many supporters.”

John R. Bolton, the former national security adviser who just released a scathing book about Mr. Trump, said on Sunday that the president’s inattention to detail made it possible that he did not notice the racist comments.

“He doesn’t pay attention to a lot of things,” Mr. Bolton said on “State of the Union.” “It’s entirely possible that he tweeted this video because he saw the sign, I think it was in the first go-kart that said the Trump 2020 or something like that. That’s all he needed to see. Not paying attention. Not considering all the implications of information he gets.”

But Mr. Bolton added, “It may be that you can draw a conclusion that he heard it, and it was racist, and he tweeted it to promote the message. It’s a legitimate conclusion to draw.”

Either way, the president’s initial decision to approvingly share the blatant support for white supremacy was the latest example of his willingness to use his vast Twitter following to inject incendiary commentary into the ongoing debate in the country over systemic racism.

In May, as protests erupted after the killing of George Floyd, a black man, by a Minneapolis police officer, Mr. Trump tweeted, “When the looting starts, the shooting starts,” a phrase with a long history of connection to racism.

More recently, Mr. Trump has used his Twitter feed to attack protesters who have pulled down statues of Confederate generals, calling them “arsonists, anarchists, looters, and agitators.” On Saturday night, he tweeted out 15 “wanted” posters for people the U.S. Park Police were seeking in connection with vandalism in Lafayette Square, just outside the White House.

The video on Sunday — which could not be independently verified by The New York Times — appeared to show a slow-moving parade through the Florida community with supporters of Mr. Trump riding golf carts, wearing red, white and blue, and displaying pro-Trump materials.

Protesters lined the street, many of them screaming epithets, accusing the Trump supporters of being racists and holding signs calling the president a bigot.

In his tweet, Mr. Trump did not specifically refer to the man who yelled “white power.” But his reference to “the great people of The Villages” was an eerie echo of his comments in the summer of 2017, when he responded to deadly violence by white supremacists in Charlottesville, Va., by saying there were “very fine people on both sides.”

Joseph R. Biden Jr., the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, invoked the president’s comments about Charlottesville in response to the video on Sunday.

“We’re in a battle for the soul of the nation — and the President has picked a side,” Mr. Biden tweeted.

Mr. Trump has repeatedly denied that he was expressing support for white supremacy with his “both sides” comment. But the tweet on Sunday underscores what has become a hallmark of his presidency since he took office: a willingness to embrace divisive comments when they are coming from people he perceives to be his supporters.

The president has routinely retweeted far-right messages and a conspiracy theory known as QAnon, which includes people who believe that a “deep state” in the government is filled with satanic pedophiles. Mr. Trump once retweeted VB Nationalist, an anonymous account that has promoted a hoax about top Democrats worshiping the Devil and engaging in child sex trafficking.

“I’ve been retweeted by the President of the United States, President Trump!” the author of the anonymous account tweeted at the time.

An analysis of Mr. Trump’s Twitter account by The New York Times at the end of last year found that the president had retweeted at least 145 unverified accounts that had pushed conspiracy, racist or other fringe content, including more than two dozen that were later suspended by Twitter.

Recently, Twitter has begun to crack down directly on Mr. Trump’s feed, posting warnings on some of his messages. In May, when the president tweeted about shooting following looting, the company added a statement to the post.

“This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules about glorifying violence. However, Twitter has determined that it may be in the public’s interest for the Tweet to remain accessible,” the company wrote. Later, when the president warned that efforts by protesters to set up an “autonomous zone” in Washington, D.C., would be “met with serious force!,” Twitter put up a similar message and blocked it from being retweeted.

The quick deletion of the video on Sunday was a rare instance in which Mr. Trump backed down in the face of criticism. His previous tweets have remained online despite the company’s online warnings.

White nationalist group posing as antifa called for violence on Twitter

White nationalist group posing as antifa called for violence on Twitter
Some of the posts feature a screenshot of a tweet by a fake antifa Twitter account that Twitter said was created by the white nationalist group Identity Evropa.

A Twitter account claiming to belong to a national “antifa” organization and pushing violent rhetoric related to ongoing protests has been linked to the white nationalist group Identity Evropa, according to a Twitter spokesperson.

The spokesperson said the account violated the company’s platform manipulation and spam policy, specifically the creation of fake accounts. Twitter suspended the account after a tweet that incited violence.

As protests were taking place in multiple states across the U.S. Sunday night, the newly created account, @ANTIFA_US, tweeted, “Tonight’s the night, Comrades,” with a brown raised fist emoji and “Tonight we say ‘F— The City’ and we move into the residential areas… the white hoods…. and we take what’s ours …”

This isn’t the first time Twitter has taken action against fake accounts engaged in hateful conduct linked to Identity Evropa, according to the spokesperson.

The antifa movement — a network of loosely organized radical groups who use direct action to fight the far-right and fascism — has been targeted by President Donald Trump as the force behind some of the violence and property destruction seen at some protests, though little evidence has been provided for such claims.

Other misinformation and misleading claims spread across Twitter on Sunday night and into Monday related to the protests.

Two hashtags that trended worldwide on Twitter falsely claimed that there was a “cover-up” or a “blackout” of protests in Washington, D.C., overnight. Both appeared to insinuate that protesters have been silenced in some way, perhaps by a secret internet blackout.

Twitter says it has removed the trend from its “trending topics” section because of “coordinated attempts to disrupt the public conversation” around the protests.

Twitter said it suspended several hundred accounts and is investigating the viral spread of the hashtag, which it said was boosted by “hundreds of spammy accounts.”

“We’re taking action proactively on any coordinated attempts to disrupt the public conversation around this issue,” a Twitter spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said the company sometimes pulls down hashtags that violate the company’s rules, like platform manipulation.

“We want trends to promote healthy discussions on Twitter. This means that at times, we may prevent certain content from trending. These include trends that violate the Twitter Rules,” the Twitter spokesperson said.

NetBlocks, a nonprofit group monitoring worldwide internet access, found no indication of a mass-scale internet disruption in the Washington area overnight or in the last 48 hours.

Journalists covering the protests also took to Twitter to disprove the hoax.

“A lot of people are asking me about a possible #dcblackout. I’ve been out near the White House since 4 am and haven’t experienced any outage,” tweeted Victoria Sanchez, a reporter for WJLA, the local ABC affiliate, adding that her colleagues had posted multiple updates throughout the night.

Many accounts tweeting the message had few to no followers. The same messages were also posted on Reddit and 4chan late Sunday. The posts pushing the #DCBlackout hashtag peaked in popularity around 12:30 a.m. ET Monday.

A second narrative boosted by bots and hacked accounts claimed that #DCBlackout is a misinformation campaign. The same message was tweeted verbatim by multiple accounts.

“Yeah…… as someone seeing #dcblackout trending, who lives and works in the DC metro area, and who has friends telecommuting into DC rn….. This hashtag looks like misinformation,” read the tweet, which was posted hundreds of times.

Some accounts had few to no followers, while other tweets were posted by users who claim to have been hacked.

One verified Twitter user, Jason Elia, said his account was hacked to tweet the message. Elia lives in Oklahoma City and said he wouldn’t go to Washington “unless they build an In-N-Out there.” He said he has since changed his password

The goal of the hashtag seems to be to sow confusion and fear during a chaotic time and to push the #DCBlackout hashtag to the front page of Twitter, where all users would at least glance at the disinformation.

Josh Russell, an independent bot researcher who identifies foreign and domestic hacking and trolling operations, said events like the weekend’s protests are ripe for this kind of platform manipulation.

“Any large ‘online’ event is going to have these types of things happen. Every bad actor that sees the opportunity to create some panic is going to leverage the situation to do so. It’s nothing new,” Russell said.

Off Twitter, viral text messages of screenshots of doctored tweets have circulated throughout the country. Some of the false text messages claim that extremist groups are plotting to move into residential areas this week.

Bot researchers call this kind of disinformation distribution “hidden viral” text messages, which go undetected on mainstream platforms like Facebook and Twitter and can spread like wildfire without moderation.

Similar “hidden viral” text messages went viral at the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak in the U.S., with messages claiming that the institution of martial law was imminent, vaguely citing friends or co-workers.

American officials later claimed that the texts were boosted by Chinese disinformation agents to spread panic.

Russell said hostile foreign governments frequently “look at opportunities to make it seem as though there is an infrastructure failure” during times of crisis.

“This is a common thing for foreign disinformation agents,” Russell said. “They would be trying to get people to believe that things are much worse on the ground than they are.”

The move comes after violent protests across the country over the death of George Floyd at the hands of police.

Traitor Trump and his Nazi Trumpturd Fascists hate Anti-Fascists. Why? Because the Fascists like Trump and his Trumpturds got their asses kicked three times so far by Antifa

Donald Trump said Sunday that he will designate antifa as a terrorist organization after Democratic and Republican officials pointed to extremist groups and out of town demonstrators as responsible for violent episodes at protests in major cities across the country.

The United States of America will be designating ANTIFA as a Terrorist Organization.— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 31, 2020

Trump and Attorney General William Barr had earlier pointed to anti-fascist organizers and anarchists as culprits behind the mayhem following the death of a 46-year-old black man, George Floyd, at the hands of Minneapolis police. Others said right-wing extremists such as Boogaloo followers, who hope to bring about a second Civil War, were pushing for such uprising in the protests.

In a Sunday statement, Barr said the Justice Department is taking aim at “apprehending and charging the violent radical agitators who have hijacked peaceful protest and are engaged in violations of federal law.”

The attorney general said that “to identify criminal organizers and instigators,” federal law enforcement officials are utilizing “our existing network of 56 regional FBI Joint Terrorism Task Forces.”

“Preventing reconciliation and driving us apart is the goal of these radical groups, and we cannot let them succeed,” Barr added. “The violence instigated and carried out by antifa and other similar groups in connection with the rioting is domestic terrorism and will be treated accordingly.”

But these psychotic Trumpturd Terrorists, flying the flag of our enemies and terrorizing peaceful protesters with their small dick substitutes and this is ok with the Fascists Traitor Trump and his Fascist US AG Barr huh?

There is no domestic terrorism statute and legal authority for the U.S. to designate any domestic organization as a terrorist group, as the Justice Department’s domestic terrorism coordinator has said publicly on multiple occasions in recent years. A 2018 Congressional Review Service report on antifa said that “presumably” the FBI “would investigate antifa followers suspected of criminal activity as domestic terrorists, categorizing them as a type of anarchist extremist.”

“As this tweet demonstrates, terrorism is an inherently political label, easily abused and misused,” American Civil Liberties Union National Security Project Director Hina Shamsi said in response to Trump’s post. “There is no legal authority for designating a domestic group. Any such designation would raise significant due process and First Amendment concerns.”

The Trump administration also took aim at antifa during the Sunday political talk shows. Speaking with CNN’s “State of the Union,” national security adviser Robert O’Brien said violence “is being driven by antifa.”

“And they did it in Seattle. They have done it in Portland. They have done it in Berkeley. This is a destructive force of radical — I don’t even know if we want to call them leftists,” O’Brien continued. “Whatever they are, they’re — they’re militants who are coming in and burning our cities, and we’re going to get to the bottom of it.”

Antifa, meaning “anti-fascist,” is a coalition of protesters, left-wing activists and self-described anarchists who seek to physically confront and bring down what they deem as the far right. Trump and his administration have long targeted the loosely affiliated group, which has made its presence felt at protests throughout his presidency.

O’Brien called for the FBI to engage in surveillance of antifa and to prosecute its members.

“And if they haven’t been doing that, we need a plan right away to make sure that happens,” O’Brien told reporters after appearing in the Sunday shows. “I think the attorney general has already been in touch with (FBI) Director Wray, and I think the President wants to know what the FBI has been doing, and what their plan is going forward, and if they haven’t been doing anything about antifa.”

O’Brien said that while he condemns “all extremists,” he pinned the violence on left-wing radicals.

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., tweeted the “big story” being missed is that in “city after city we have a rogues gallery of terrorists from Antifa to ‘Boogaloo’ groups encouraging & committing violence.”

“They may not be ideologically compatible but share a hatred of govt & police & are taking advantage of the protests,” Rubio, acting chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, added, saying the demonstrators “don’t fit a simple left vs. right identity.”

These individuals want to “tear the whole system down even if it requires a new civil war, Rubio said.

3 groups of people at protests:

1. Peaceful protestors angry at the murder of Mr. Floyd but who have even protected police officers at protests

2. Locals who see the opportunity for wilding

3. Domestic extremists taking advantage of lawful protests to advance their own agenda— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio) May 31, 2020

The protests began last week after a video showed Minneapolis police officers pinning Floyd to the ground as he exclaimed that he could not breathe. One officer, Derek Chauvin, was seen holding his knee against Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes as he begged for mercy — with Chauvin continuing to pin Floyd down even after he became unresponsive.

Chauvin was arrested and charged Friday with third-degree murder and manslaughter. Three other officers were also involved in Floyd’s detainment. They have not been charged with any crimes stemming from the incident.

The protests ratcheted up over the weekend after demonstrations became violent in Minnesota. Peaceful protests across the country became increasingly tense as night fell upon cities this weekend, with fires breaking out in many of them. Meanwhile, police at the protests have been recorded using harsh force against demonstrators and journalists.

Melvin Carter, the mayor of St. Paul, Minnesota, told “State of the Union” that some of the protesters are driven “by a passion for our community, by a love for our community, and by a deep desire to never see a loss of life like the killing on the video, the killing of George Floyd we all saw this week.”

“Then there’s folks in the street who are there to burn down our black-owned barbershops, to burn down our family-owned businesses, to burn down our immigrant-owned restaurants and it is very clear to me those people are not driven by a love for our community,” Carter said. “And there is no way you can argue those actions are designed to produce a better future for our community, quite the opposite.”

Carter had apologized Saturday after saying that “every person” arrested in the protests were from out of state, saying he was given inaccurate information during a police briefing. Local media examined local jail data that found nearly all of the people arrested at the protests live in Minneapolis or the surrounding metropolitan area.

Other top officials in Minnesota, like Gov. Tim Walz, a Democrat, had said out-of-staters were responsible for some of the looting and arson.

Speaking with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, a Democrat, said he’s become aware of “very suspicious” people taking part in the demonstrations through video recordings made at the protests.

“The truth is, nobody really knows,” he said of who is responsible for the more violent activity. “I talked to people who were demonstrating, they say they think some of those folks are from Minnesota. And they also say some people have come from out of town. What the exact political motivation is unclear at this point. We need to investigate it.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., pointed to Walz’s comments on out-of-towners in an interview with “This Week.”

“Let’s have a look at what really is happening, who is making what, taking what actions,” Pelosi said. “But we should not ignore the fact that there is a room for peaceful protests in all of this.”

Also on “This Week,” Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., said the large Floyd protests are happening because people “want bold and systematic change to take place, so that they can feel like their voices are heard.”

“This is what happens when people are tired, just marching every single day, just to have their humanity be recognized,” she said. “In Minneapolis, we have marched. We have protested. We have organized. And when we see people setting our buildings and our businesses ablaze, we know those are not people who are interested in protecting black lives.”

Towns from Washington state to Indiana have seen armed groups begin patrolling the streets after rumors spread on social media about an antifa invasion.

About 200 protesters came to Sugarman’s Corner, the local hotspot in downtown Klamath Falls, Oregon, last Sunday night to protest the killing of George Floyd.

Like in many of the protests that have recently sprung up in cities across the United States, the group was made up of white, black and Latino people, members of the Native American Klamath Tribes and people in the LGBTQ communities: a diverse coalition in a county of 68,000 where 9 out of every 10 residents are white, according to Census estimates. They held signs, many of which have become common during recent protests: “Black Lives Matter” and “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

Though it was a small gathering, they had company.

Just across the street, hundreds of their mostly white neighbors were there for decidedly different reasons. They leaned in front of local businesses The Daily Bagel and Rick’s Smoke Shop wearing military fatigues and bulletproof vests, with blue bands tied around their arms. Most everyone seemed to be carrying something: flags, baseball bats, hammers and axes. But mostly, they carried guns.

They said they came with shotguns, rifles and pistols to protect their downtown businesses from outsiders. They had heard that antifa, paid by billionaire philanthropist George Soros, were being bused in from neighboring cities, hellbent on razing their idyllic town.

Frederick Brigham, 31, Klamath Falls resident and musician who goes by “Wreck the Rebel,” said he never thought Black Lives Matter protests would come to his town. As one of the few black men who lives there, he felt compelled to attend.

But the presence of armed people who clearly did not support their group was chilling.

But the presence of armed people who clearly did not support their group was chilling.

“It felt like walking through an enemy war camp,” he said.

While large rallies in major cities have been the most visible part of recent social efforts to change how police treat black people, hundreds more have popped up in small, rural towns, where residents have marched and kneeled to protest police brutality.

Those protests — and some of the violence and looting that have accompanied them — have become the source of growing skepticism and paranoia in conservative circles. The most persistent rumors center on groups of antifa members being put on buses and sent to small towns to wreak havoc.

The rumors are unfounded. But that hasn’t stopped people in some communities, like Klamath Falls, from preparing for the worst. Towns from Washington state to Indiana have seen armed groups begin patrolling the streets after receiving warnings about an antifa invasion, often spurred by social media or passed along from friends. Those actions have yet to erupt in major violence but often bring heavily armed people in close contact with protesters, as it did in Klamath Falls.

The rumor

Tensions were already high in Klamath Falls. Peaceful protests 150 miles north in Eugene, Oregon, had been followed by a fire in the street and looting. On local social media, rumors were swirling that buses filled with outsiders were planning to infiltrate Klamath Falls to wreak similar havoc.

So some Klamath Falls residents armed themselves and hit the streets. Those that had children to look after watched the downtown protests from Facebook, according to comments left on the stream.

“As you can tell, we are ready,” one armed man said in a Facebook Live stream with 124,000 views. “Antifa members have threatened our town and said that they’re going to burn everything and to kill white people, basically.”

Beyond protecting the businesses on Main Street, the armed group asked: “Why would Black Lives Matter need to protest in Klamath Falls?”

The rally lasted about four hours with Klamath Falls Police Department officers standing between the two sets of protesters. On the north side of the street, protesters chanted “George Floyd.” On the south side of the street, chants of “USA” and “go home” erupted throughout the night.

“A lot of these people came out because they swore that antifa buses were in town,” Brigham said. “They couldn’t believe that I was from here. They thought I must be a black man that came from somewhere else.”

Like nearly every other county in the U.S., Klamath County and the county seat of Klamath Falls have private Facebook groups dedicated to local news, mostly filled with postings about lost dogs, local announcements and constant chatter about what’s heard over the police scanner. It was on Klamath County’s local Facebook news group that some 4,800 members came to talk about the potential threat of antifa, according to posts reviewed by NBC News.

Since nationwide protests began, President Donald Trump and U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr have without evidence blamed the antifa movement — a loose network of groups made up of radicals who rely on direct action, and sometimes violence, to fight the far right and fascism — for the looting and property damage seen during some of the otherwise peaceful rallies. Last week, Trump announced that he planned to designate antifa as a terrorist organization.

That unsubstantiated finger-pointing has coincided with viral rumors on social media — posts on Facebook and Nextdoor that buses filled with thousands of antifa members and anarchists were on their way to loot suburban neighborhoods. Some seen by NBC News featured a screenshot of a tweet by a fake antifa Twitter account that Twitter said was created by a white nationalist group.

The first mention of the buses coming to Klamath Falls came on Facebook.

“I am not one to spread false information,” one of the earliest posts stated. “There are two buses heading this way from Portland, full of ANTIFA members and loaded with bricks. Their intentions are to come to Klamath Falls, destroy it, and murder police officers. There have been rumors of the antifa going into residential areas to ‘fuck up the white hoods.’”

Some responding to the posts were incredulous, but few could argue when a screenshot of a direct message from Col. Jeff Edwards, the commander of the Oregon Air National Guard’s 173rd Fighter Wing, was posted in one of the groups.

“Team Kingsley, for your safety I ask you to please avoid the downtown area this evening. We received an alert that there may be 2 busloads of ANTIFA protesters en route to Klamath Falls and arriving in downtown around 2030 tonight,” the post stated.

Maj. Nikki Jackson, a spokeswoman for the 173rd Fighter Wing, confirmed in an email that the message had come from Edwards.

“This was an internal message sent by Col Edwards to the Citizen-Airmen of the 173d Fighter Wing for their situational awareness and safety,” Jackson said. “The alert was received from local law enforcement agencies here in Klamath Falls.”

As the day went on, the town buzzed with talk of the incoming rioters, and residents swarmed to Facebook to report what they were seeing.

“I saw some scattered SJWs and some in black at Albertsons,” one woman posted. “SJW” is a derogatory reference to social justice warriors.

The antifa buses became a kind of local scavenger hunt. Someone spotted an empty green bus at Klamath Community College. A white bus with “Black Lives Matter” and peace signs painted in green and blue was spotted in the Walmart parking lot. A local recognized that bus as belonging to a local musician, but others didn’t buy it. Someone reported a U-Haul in front of T.J. Maxx, or maybe it was the House of Shoes.

Same rumor, different states

Rumors of marauding antifa buses have popped up on local social media networks all across the country, sometimes leading to direct, dangerous action by locals and police departments.

In Forks, Washington, locals felled trees with chainsaws to block a road, fearing that a bus filled with antifa was headed to town. According to the Peninsula Daily News, the bus was occupied by a multi-racial family of four heading home from a campsite. It was eventually surrounded “by seven or eight carloads of people in the grocery store parking lot.”

Forks residents were warned of the antifa invaders by a local gun dealer’s viral video on Facebook.

Police and 911 dispatchers in South Bend, Indiana, were inundated with calls warning of “busloads of people coming in from the toll road.” One tweet, posted by several different, brand-new accounts using identical language, warned South Bend residents to “be in by 9 and lock all of your doors.”

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot decried a “concerted effort out there to misinform” after the city’s police scanner repeatedly warned of antifa buses on their way into town amid protests Saturday night.

NBC News reviewed similar warnings and posts of panic in local apps like Nextdoor and Facebook groups from all throughout the country this week. “Friends in the NYPD” warned of antifa “being sent to the suburbs” in one post. A post in a Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, Facebook group implored residents to “protect yourselves, your family and your businesses” from a “serious rumor” about a group “organizing to riot and loot.”

Similar warnings were posted in Nextdoor groups everywhere from Jacksonville, Florida, to Danville, California. Some local police departments and sheriff’s offices in Idaho and South Dakota posted to social media to assuage residents of the false antifa bus rumors that had gripped local social media.

Four hours away from Klamath Falls, in Coquille, Oregon, Curry County Sheriff John Ward warned residents on Tuesday in a Facebook post that “3 buss loads of ANTIFA protestors are making their way from Douglas County headed for Coquille then to Coos Bay.”

That night, hundreds gathered at the Coos County Courthouse with guns, awaiting arrival of the antifa buses, the Bandon Western World reported.

The morning after the non-riot, a local couple, Douglas and Debra Bankler, published an op-ed in the Western World, saying “there’s not a whole lot worth ‘looting,’ and ‘burning down’ in Coquille — and we mean that in a good way!”

The op-ed was titled “Taking on an imaginary enemy.”

Douglas Bankler told NBC News the antifa bus rumor may have started on Facebook, but it spread through the town like a real-life game of telephone.

“We live in a tiny, podunk, little Oregon beach town. Five square miles,” he said. “God, please don’t tell us this is going on all over the place.”

‘Antifa retreats’

In the end, Klamath Falls’ largest Black Lives Matter protest saw no looting, no fires and little violence, apart from a few thrown punches, instigated by the armed side of the street, several of the Black Lives Matter protesters told NBC News.

“There was never the feel of a large contingent of a lot of out-of-town folks,” Klamath Falls Police Department Capt. Ryan Brosterhous told local newspaper Herald and News.

One person was cited for disorderly conduct and several were detained and released. “Mostly intoxication,” Brosterhous told the newspaper. The Klamath Falls Police Department did not return emails and phone messages from NBC News.

The armed man who livestreamed the protest, who was worried about antifa coming to murder white people, posted an update to his Facebook page acknowledging the risks had been overblown. “I know your hearts and minds were in the right place,” he wrote, “but a lot of the info was bad.”

Still others remain convinced that antifa had been there that night, run off by the sight of hundreds of armed patriots.

And that’s the story spreading online.

“Antifa RETREATS From Suburb After Business Owner and Neighborhood Show Up With Guns,” stated the headline on the website NewsPunch, one of the internet’s most notorious fake news destinations. The article quotes a Facebook post by Dan Kline, the owner of a local billiards bar.

“I have never felt a threat to my business as I did last night,” Kline wrote in his post. “Antifa didn’t make it to the courthouse and my bar had no incidents. Antifa walked into a hornet’s nest. It was like a sixth grade football team walking into the Oakland Coliseum to take on the Raiders.”

Kline’s post received thousands of likes and shares and was posted in other local Facebook groups from Macomb County in Michigan to Sandpoint, Idaho, according to Facebook’s social media analysis tool, CrowdTangle.

Reached by phone, Kline said he was proud of the way the counterprotest took a stand against antifa and showed the world what would happen should any outside group try and bring a fight to Klamath Falls. But he also described a different scene than in his Facebook post: a peaceful protest from a “small group of kids.”

“I can see why they felt threatened somewhat, because they actually were,” Kline said of the Black Lives Matter protesters who faced the militia on Sunday. “We didn’t know what we were up against, you know?”

“They were just trying to make a peaceful demonstration, and they ran into a fight.”

Free from the threat of antifa, the armed residents of Klamath County have mostly stayed home in recent days. But Brigham and dozens of other protesters have continued to gather nightly at Sugarman’s Corner.

“It’s been a long time since I felt this much love,” Brigham said in a livestream from Thursday night’s protest, as a large van drove by.

“They got the big guy RV,” Brigham said to an audience of 14 viewers. “That’s not antifa. It’s just somebody in an RV trying to go on vacation.”

“A lot of people still think buses with antifa are coming,” he said. “Don’t believe in the fear. Believe in this love.”

Twitter says fake “Antifa” account was run by white supremacists

Twitter has shut down multiple accounts that it says were operated by a white supremacist group posing as liberal groups encouraging violence.

Twitter said the white supremacist group Identity Evropa used one fake account, @Antifa_US, to call for violence in majority white suburbs, in the name of the Black Lives Matter movement. The account’s removal was first reported by NBC News.

“This account violated our platform manipulation and spam policy, specifically the creation of fake accounts. We took action after the account sent a Tweet inciting violence and broke the Twitter Rules” the company said.

Twitter said it has also targeted other fake accounts run by Identity Evropa, but did not provide examples. The company said the accounts posted hateful tweets targeting race, religion and sexual orientation.

A screengrab of a tweet that Twitter says was posted by white supremacists posing as supporters of the left-wing anti-fascist movement Antifa.

An Identity Evropa account purported to be associated with Antifa, a collection of loosely connected groups that organize against fascism. On Sunday, Attorney General William Barr said Antifa was associated with violence at recent protests. Officials have yet to show evidence to support this claim.

Without identifying any particular group, a May 31 Department of Homeland Security note warned that well-coordinated groups had “potentially compromised” law enforcement radio communications in Portland, Oregon over the weekend. The note warned that those seeking to incite violence in other locations could be “monitoring local law enforcement communications to identify vulnerabilities in their operational security posture.”

Democratic officials, including Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, have said without evidence that white supremacist groups have been involved in violence.

On Friday, Denver police seized assault rifles from at least two people associated with a group called the  “Boogaloo Bois” near the site of a protest.

In a report Monday, the Anti-Defamation League described the “Boogaloo Bois” as “right-wing anti-government extremists have also reacted to the protests and violence following the killing of George Floyd.”

“ADL’s Center on Extremism has been closely monitoring the protests nationwide, and it is our initial assessment that while a number of extremists – including anti-government agitators, anarchists and a handful of white supremacists – are taking an active role, these protests should not be categorized as “extremist” events at this point,” the organization said in its report.

The nonprofit said that although there are white supremacists among the “boogaloo” followers, the group’s focus is not explicitly race.

“Some white supremacists have also adopted the boogaloo concept, but most boogalooers are not white supremacist.  Rather, their orientation is anti-government and vehemently anti-police, a fact that has largely shaped their reactions to the protests against George Floyd’s killing,” the ADL said.

What a fat fucking racist pig this piece of shit is. Hey Rush, how were all those oxycotons you took? Remember when you said that drug addicts should be executed? They should have executed your white supremacist ass.

Rush Limbaugh (Video screenshot courtesy RushLimbaugh.com) It’s a fact that Barack Obama “collaborated to invent the Russia collusion narrative,” so now the former president is throwing mud on President Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic to deflect attention, charged talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh. “None of this Trump-Russia collusion stuff could have happened without Obama knowing […]

Another Case of Trumpturd Obama Derangement Syndrome: Fundamentally Transformed — Andelino’s Weblog

EVEN ON HIS WORSE DAY? PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA WAS BETTER THAN DOTARD DONNIE, THE COMMANDER BONE SPURS ON HIS BEST DAY

America’s government has been embroiled in a shameful “impeachment” charade for months now. The Democrats are demonstrating that there is virtually “no limit” to what they are willing to do to “attack” the president and “undermine” the last election—and the next one. Meanwhile, revelations continue to emerge about their “abuse” of the intelligence agencies to […]

Fundamentally Transformed — Andelino’s Weblog

Obama Derangement Syndrome huh? You know he hasn’t been President for what? 3 years now? And I remember how you fools kept screaming, foaming at the mouth when he was President, in your hypocrisy of course, how Bush was no longer President and how Obama had to take responsibility for everything left for him to do.

I love it when the Trumpturds call Antifa pussies. I love when they show how they are actually afraid of Antifa because they got their asses kicked three times so far by Anti-Fascists. And that is what Antifa stands for, it means against Fascism. So if you are against Antifa? That means YOU are for Fascism. And look what Antifa does to fucking Fascists huh? I guess you all want another history lesson in losing don’t you?

And now? You all want to blame him again for every thing illegal, immoral and criminal that Trump has done. Where as? If Obama had one tenth of what Trump has done while in office? Not only would you all demand his impeachment? But also his execution for High Treason.

I can just imagine? If President Obama had sent in the troops on all you Trumpsters out there protesting the Covid-19 Social Distancing rules, loaded down with your small penis substitutes, getting into the faces of police officers, taking over government buildings? Why that is ok with you people. But if Obama had sent in the troops, lie Dicktater wanna be Trump did for his photo op of his not even being able to hold his bible right, against the peaceful protesters? You all would have melted down like the snowflakes you are and cried Fascism.

Funny how you all can practice your own brand of Nazi/Socialist/White Supremacist Fascism and anyone who stands up to you pussies, like the Anti-Fascists? Scare the living daylights out of you pussies, and we are the ones who are supposed to be the weak ones? Now you all call us the terrorists lmfao.

Maybe that is because in the back of all of your minds? YOU DO remember your history on how Anti-Fascists stood up to you all during the first Civil War, and in WWI and WWII and kicked your butts. And you all scream at us, You lost, get over it???? Man talk about hypocrisy and idiocy on your parts huh? But it is you who are the treasonous Fascists, calling for a Civil War 2.0 against your fellow Citizens, that is illegal actually under the US Codes against sedition, treason and seeking to overthrow the government. And guess what? You all ever do your Boogaloo? Well you all will finally meet the True Patriots of this country who will gladly show you all how to be losers for a fourth time.

YOU fly these flags? Then YOU ARE the enemy of the United States and will be treated as such.

Cause we are not putting up with your crap and neither are our True Patriots of our Military and if you doubt me? Read the current Generals words about you all, and then research how our FBI and Homeland Security? Keep bagging you all. I love it too when one of your kind or group of kinds of rabid dog animals attempt to shoot it out with them and your next trip is to the morgues. Cause you sure are NOT going to defeat the combined forces of the US Military, REAL State and Local law enforcement, or REAL Patriots of this country when you all finally drop your fucking micro-nuts like you all been threatening since a REAL President, Barack Obama was in the White House and pop off with your stupid fucking Boogaloo. If you all want to wage war on your fellow citizens for Traitor Trump? Then fucking have at it. And? Before you do?

Write out your wills, to give your generational inbred loved ones your fancy double-wide outhouse trailer, kiss your sister/mother/wife and your rotted toothed rug rats goodbye, and dress up in your best GI Joe outfits, pack your gear, shoulder your weapons and pop the fuck off.

Oh and here is a clue. Wear your bullet proof jackets and helmets. We are not shooting for head shots or center mass. Oh fuck no, we are aiming right for your unprotected legs and crotch area. Then finish you off old school, just like we did to the fucking Nazis in WWII.

So? If you want to commit High Treason for Traitor Trumpturd? Your dear Commander Bone Spurs who could not make it up Pork Chop Hill and went and hid his fat ass in his bunker? YOU truly think YOU are going to take over this country when you are actually outnumbered?

And many of you morons are followings Trump’s orders and gathering like you are doing, spreading that hoax Covid-19 among yourselves and you Trumpturds are dropping like flies around the piles of shit around your outhouses?

Good. Go for it. And watch what happens when the REAL Patriots rise up and put you scumbags right where you belong. Cause that is what you want. To die for Traitor Trump? And his Fascist, white supremacist loser shit? Then we will oblige you.
