Claiming that being gay is a choice like drug abuse, the senior pastor for a megachurch in Tennessee says that “gays must be put to death” because God commands it.

Last Sunday, Brainerd Baptist Church Senior Pastor Robby Gallaty told his large congregation that Christians should never stop discriminating against homosexuals, claiming that gays could choose to be straight if they only accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Gallaty explained why gays should be put to death:

God said that the sins of the people had infected the very land in which they live. So what happens to people who engage in this activity, this sexual immoral activity? Go to Leviticus 20, God gives us the punishment for engaging in these sins… ‘If a man sleeps with a man as with a woman, they have both committed a detestable thing. They must be put to death. And their blood is on their own hands.’

All Scripture Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee is one of those New Independent Fundamentalist Baptist churches that preaches hate, especially against LGBTQ people. A statement on the church’s website says “No homosexual will be allowed to attend or join All Scripture Baptist Church”… which is troubling since it implies a gay person actually wanted to attend that church.

Last week, Pastor Greg Fritts did what so many of these nasty pastors (Nastors?) do and said the Bible calls for the execution of LGBTQ people at the hands of the government. (It begins around the 27:04 mark. Update: The original video was taken down by YouTube. I still possess a copy. But for now, I’m posting a different version below.)

The Bible says that the government — somebody stands up, “Oh, I’m LGBTQ” — here’s how it should work: It shouldn’t work where we go out and we enforce the laws, because the Bible says the powers that be are ordained of God, and God has instilled the power of civil government to send the police in 2019 out to these LGBT freaks and arrest them and have a trial for them and if they are convicted than they are to be put to death.

Do you understand that? It is a capital crime that should be carried out by our government. Not Christians… unless you’re a policeman, you know what I mean? If you’re a policeman, then you know what? It should be your responsibility to carry these things out…

The question is what the Knox County Sheriff’s Office plans to do about this.

The sermon sparked an investigation by the Knox County District Attorney’s Office, which put out a statement saying it is further looking into the incident and will take action accordingly.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office also put out a statement after reports surfaced that Fritts worked in the office. The statement said he is on paid leave until his buy out request if processed.

“I want to be very clear that it is my responsibility to ensure equal protection to ALL citizens of Knox County, Tennessee under the law, my oath and the United States Constitution without discrimination or hesitation. Rest assured that I have and will continue to do so,” Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler said in the statement.

New audio has surfaced of a gay-bashing North Carolina pastor suggesting homosexuals should die.

Charles L. Worley of Providence Road Baptist Church came under fire last week after a YouTube video showed him calling for gays and lesbians to be locked behind an electrified fence and left to die.

On Tuesday, Good As You, an LBGT blog, dug up a 1978 audio clip of a preacher identified as Worley fondly recalling the days when homosexuals would have “hung” from a tree.

“We’re living in a day when it saddens my heart to think homosexuals can go around, bless God, and get the applause of a lot of people, lesbians and all the rest of it,” the pastor hisses in the audio clip.

“Forty years ago they would’ve hung, bless God, from a white oak tree! Wouldn’t they? Amen,” the pastor says.

Anti-gay pastor who claimed Orlando massacre victims got “what they deserve” will probably spend the rest of his life in prison.

Pastor Ken Adkins was sentenced to life for aggravated child molestation earlier this week. Adkins will be eligible for parole after 35 years, but by that time he will be over 90 years old, and more than likely dead. If he does manage to live long enough to be released, he will spend the remainder of his life on probation.

Adkins, who had congregations in Atlanta, Jacksonville, and Brunswick, Georgia, was arrested late last summer on eight charges of child molestation and aggravated child molestation.

Before his arrest the controversial Georgia pastor had been a vocal and determined opponent of LGBT rights, and even went so far as to celebrate a horrific mass shooting that left 49 dead and scores more wounded at a gay nightclub in Florida.

Matt Powell is the angry Christian preacher who said atheists were all Coke-drinking video game addicts and that scientists were hiding the truth about the Sun and moon.

We all had a good laugh at the 22-year-old preacher because the guy clearly had willfully ignorant gaps in his knowledge. But in a recent interview, he showed he’s so much worse than that.

In an interview with atheist YouTuber Skylar Fiction, Powell explained that the government should execute gay people. (It’s terrifying that anyone, much less a young person, would believe this. Yet it’s not out of the ordinary for some extremist Christians.)

… as far as homosexuality goes, you know, I believe the Bible puts the death penalty on it. I believe it’s disgusting. And incidentally, every scientific test has come back and said that homosexuals are 50 more times likely to get AIDS… we got this AIDS thing spreading… it’s a fact that this is the case.

Skylar probed further and asked if Powell really believed gay people should be killed.

There may be a Bible-based way to get out of that conversation, but Powell either didn’t know or didn’t care. He was happy to take the bait and run with it around the 8:05 mark.

SKYLAR: … you don’t believe that gay people should be stoned to death, do you?

POWELL: I believe the Bible puts the death penalty on it. Obviously, not by me or anybody in a regular society, obviously. I believe it’s the government’s job to execute criminals. I believe that the Bible says clearly that homosexuality is a criminal crime. It’s a crime. It’s one of the worst crimes ever.

SKYLAR: … Is that what you’re advocating for? That our government should stone gays to death to execute them?

POWELL: By whatever means they execute people. And obviously, I believe in humane, you know, putting to death.

SKYLAR: I think that’s a contradiction, what you’re saying. You can’t use the word “humane” and then say you’re gonna kill people who are gay.

POWELL: Right, but the thing is, I mean, whatever our government says, as far as, like, for a death penalty, I think should go for them.

SKYLAR: Wait… but no… you’re saying you agree the government should create laws… in order to execute gay people. That’s what you’re telling me?

POWELL: Absolutely!

SKYLAR: Okay.

POWELL: That’s what the Bible says. I believe the Bible. I didn’t write the Bible.

Skylar also asked if divorce or adultery warranted the death penalty. The answer, which Powell eventually sputtered out, was yes. Because that’s what the Bible commands. The same thing applied, he added, even when talking about his own kids being seriously disobedient.

Top Evangelical Christian Website Says Pete Buttgieg’s Homosexuality Makes Him ‘Deserving of Death’

A leading Christian website has published a column in which a preacher and author describes 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg as bringing the “death rattle of a nation” with his homosexuality.

Writing for Charisma News, a website associated with the popular Christian magazine Charisma, Bert Farias decried how people are celebrating that a presidential candidate is publicly introducing, and even “kisses without shame,” his husband in the name of progressivism.

“The constant compromising of preachers to avoid controversy is creating much damage—not only to the world, which is looking for a clear sound from preachers, but also to believers who have little discernment or are growing tired of ambiguity,” Farias wrote.

“For example, one very influential and popular minister who has millions of followers was asked if homosexuality was wrong, and his general response was that his views were evolving. Evolving? That’s like saying the Bible is evolving. How pathetic of an answer.

“In fact, when those who practice such things that are ‘deserving of death’ also approve of others who practice them (Rom. 1:32), it is one of God’s final signs of His wrath on a society.

“This is a description of gay activism and constantly pushing for its normalcy and marginalizing those who disapprove. This is present-day America. How far we’ve fallen.”

Farias went on to claim that the shock factor of seeing two men kiss has been so reduced so much that “the rest of us are numb and desensitized to this most shameful and abominable behavior.”

Farias also suggested it was hypocritical to attack President Donald Trump over accusations of adultery and sexual assault if you do not question Buttigieg’s “abominable lifestyle.”

He added Trump has apologized for his past behavior, including boasting how he grabs woman “by the p****,” whereas Buttigieg is “pushing his homosexuality, not apologizing for it.”

“Buttigieg and others of his kind will do everything in his power to normalize homosexual relationships even more in the eyes of America,” Farias added. “They are products of what the Bible calls a “debased mind” or a mind void of judgment (Rom. 1:24, 26, 28) that God Himself has given them over to.

“Buttigieg will also do his best to marginalize those who are convinced that these relationships are contrary to the will of God.”

Buttigieg and his husband Chastern have been the subject of a number of homophobic slurs during the former South Bend mayor’s surprising rise to one of the frontrunners for the 2020 Democratic candidacy.

Buttigieg was also confronted by protesters from a group called Queers Against Pete at a fundraising event at the National LGBTQ Center for the Arts in San Francisco on Friday.

Theodore Shoebat, an antigay Christian extremist best known for his horrific video rants and columns published by right wing blogs, called for the execution of gay church leaders on Friday. Shoebat focused primarily on gay priests, claiming the Vatican is riddled with “homosexual hornets nests.”

In a lengthy and rambling video blog post, Shoebat listed multiple times he has tried to imitate other right wing video makers who ask controversial questions of unsuspecting authorities in the hopes that they’ll misspeak or say something that can be twisted to fit the filmmakers ideology. Shoebat’s post is full of complaints about Catholic leaders who’ve ignored his antics or shut him down entirely.

Shoebat claimed that gay priests and ministers are “suicide bombers” intent on infiltrating the church as a way to discredit Christianity.

“Once they become a pastor or a priest, they begin their destruction. And they only do this for one reason, and that is to make the church look bad, to make the church evil,” he said in the podcast. “It’s obvious that Satan knows homosexuality is evil and it’s also obvious to me that these very sodomites who enter the church, they as well know that homosexuality is evil because they do this so that other people can say, ‘See, this is Christianity.'”

“Civilization has no room for homosexuality.” Shoebat said in the video, as he pointed out that the Catholic Church once persecuted any priests discovered to be gay. They “would be delivered to the secular authorities and put to death,” he said, lamenting “it’s just too damn bad that we don’t have these laws being enacted any more.”

As Joe.My.God. blogger Joe Jervis points out, Shoebat is a darling of other religious opponents of LGBT rights.

“Shoebat currently appears in an anti-LGBT film created by hate group leader Janet Porter which also stars Porno Pete [Peter LaBarbera], Mike Huckabee, Rand Paul, and other anti-LGBT activists,” Jervis wrote. “Shoebat regularly calls for the genocide of homosexuals, atheists, and Christians who support LGBT rights. It’s what Jesus would want.”

Back in 2009, Scott Lively and two other American pastors held a big conference in Uganda in order to tell government officials all about how evil gay people are, how they maybe were responsible for the entire Rwandan genocide, how they wanted to destroy families, and how best to make them all straight. It took five years, and changing “execution” to “life imprisonment,” but Uganda finally passed the Kill the Gays bill introduced immediately after Lively’s big trip. (For the record, Lively thought the whole execution thing was a bit excessive although he agreed “with the general goal.”)

If Scott Lively is known for one thing, he is known for really hating gay people. It is his entire personal brand. He wrote a book called The Pink Swastika in which he claimed that gay people were the ones who invented Nazism and then decided to throw themselves into concentration camps for being gay. And these are the titles of his other books!

As you can see, he has committed to this bit. He’s not out there talking about other aspects of Christianity or writing books about the joys of model train collecting. If you Google him, pretty much all that comes up are the terrible things he has said about gay people. Although, to be fair, he did call for the death penalty for performing abortions last month and also once got a nice thrill up his leg from an explosion at a strip club in which 18 people were injured. That is about as diversified as his personality portfolio gets.

The proposal, submitted by Huntington Beach, Calif., attorney Matthew McLaughlin, sought to authorize the murder of gays and lesbians by “bullets to the head” or “any other convenient method.”

“This proposed act is the product of bigotry, seeks to promote violence, is patently unconstitutional and has no place in a civil society,” California Attorney General Kamala D. Harris said in a statement Tuesday.

The measure, upon voter approval, would have mandated California to put to death any person who “willingly touches another person of the same gender for purposes of sexual gratification.” The initiative classifies this group of people as “sodomites.” It would also have made it a crime to distribute “sodomistic propaganda” to “any person under the age of majority.” Being a “sodomite” or distributing “sodomistic propaganda” would have disqualified one from serving in public office or public employment and from enjoying any public benefit

a) The abominable crime against nature known as buggery, called also sodomy, is a monstrous evil that Almighty God, giver of freedom and liberty, commands us to suppress on pain of our utter destruction even as he overthrew Sodom and Gomorrha.

b) Seeing that it is better that offenders should die rather than that all of us should be killed by God’s just wrath against us for the folly of tolerating-wickedness in our midst, the People of California wisely command, in the fear of God, that any person who willingly touches another person of the same gender for purposes of sexual gratification be put to death by bullets to the head or by any other convenient method.

c) No person shall distribute, perform, or transmit sodomistic propaganda directly or indirectly by any means to any person under the age of majority. Sodomistic propaganda is defined as anything aimed at creating an interest in or an acceptance of human sexual relations other than between a man and a woman. Every offender shall be fined $1 million per occurrence, and/or imprisoned up to 10 years, and/or expelled from the boundaries of the state of California for up to life.

d) No person shall serve in any public office, nor serve in public employment, nor enjoy any public benefit, who is a sodomite or who espouses sodomistic propaganda or who belongs to any group that does.

e) This law is effective immediately and shall not be rendered ineffective nor invalidated by any court, state or federal, until heard by a quorum of the Supreme Court of California consisting only of judges who are neither sodomites nor subject to disqualification hereunder.

f) The state has an affirmative duty to defend and enforce this law as written, and every member of the public has standing to seek its enforcement and obtain reimbursement for all costs and attorney’s fees in so doing, and further, should the state persist in inaction over 1 year after due notice, the general public is empowered and deputized to execute all the provisions hereunder extra-judicially, immune from any charge and indemnified by the state against any and all liability.

g) This law shall be known as “The Sodomite Suppression Act” and be numbered as section 39 in Title 3 of the Penal Code, pertaining to offences against the sovereignty of the state. The text shall be prominently posted in every public school classroom. All laws in conflict with this law are to that extent invalid

‘Shoot the Gays’ initiative countered by ‘Intolerant Jackass Act’

A Southern California attorney’s “shoot the gays” initiative is apparently headed for circulation. While some of its would-be targets have asked the State Bar to take action against the author, a local writer, politician and TV commentator is suggesting a more in-your-face expression of disapproval: the “Intolerant Jackass Act.”

Charlotte Laws said she mailed her proposed ballot initiative to the state attorney general’s office on Monday with the same $200 fee that attorney Matt McLaughlin paid last month to submit his initiative, which he titled the “Sodomite Suppression Act.” Warning of “God’s just wrath” for “tolerating wickedness in our midst,” McLaughlin’s measure would require that anyone who touches a person of the same gender for sexual gratification be put to death “by bullets to the head or by any other convenient method.” It would also make advocacy of gay rights, to an audience that includes minors, a crime punishable by 10 years in prison and permanent expulsion from California.

Laws’ initiative, which invokes the “love of liberty and tolerance,” would label the author of any ballot measure calling for the killing of gays and lesbians an “intolerant jackass.” Such a person would have to attend at least three hours a month of sensitivity training for a year and contribute $5,000 to a pro-gay or pro-lesbian organization.

It was “just a way to speak back to this intolerant individual lawyer in Orange County,” Laws told The Chronicle on Tuesday, a day after her counter-stroke was first reported by Slate.com. “I felt that ridiculing him was the best way to take away his power. … It basically gives our state a bad name.

Laws is an activist against revenge porn and has been a neighborhood council member and a city commissioner in Los Angeles.

She said she doesn’t intend to actually circulate the initiative for the November 2016 ballot, but has submitted it to Attorney General Kamala Harris’ office for an official title and summary, just like McLaughlin. Legal analysts have generally agreed that Harris is required by law to issue a title and summary to anyone who pays the filing fee, thus clearing the measure for circulation — even if, like a proposal to murder one’s fellow citizens, it’s obviously unconstitutional. Harris is scheduled to clear McLaughlin’s measure in early May.

McLaughlin, who practices law in Huntington Beach, has been an attorney since 1998. In 2004 he proposed another initiative that would have distributed the King James bible as literature to students in California public schools. He hasn’t given interviews on his current initiative proposal.

An initiative needs 365,000 valid signatures to make the ballot. Even if McLaughlin could collect that many signatures, the state Supreme Court has the power to remove measures from the ballot on constitutional grounds.

The debate over marriage equality continues to heat up in North Carolina, with yet another religious leader speaking out against allowing same-sex couples the right to wed.

Good As You is reporting that Tim Rabon, pastor at Raleigh’s Beacon Baptist Church, condemned states such as Massachusetts, Connecticut and Maryland which have already “re-defined” marriage to include lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) couples.

Harris caused further controversy later during his sermon when he urged his congregation to attack their children if they appear to be exhibiting behavior outside of gender norms.

“Dads, the second you see your son dropping the limp wrist, you walk over there and crack that wrist,” he said. “Man up. Give him a good punch. OK? You are not going to act like that. You were made by God to be a male, and you are going to be a male.”

The North Carolina pastor whose violent anti-gay rant blew up across the blogosphere, said in an interview that his message to parents in a sermon — to “punch” a boy who is effeminate and “crack that wrist” if he is limp-wristed — were taken out of the “context of a ministry,” and that he meant them “figuratively,” claiming that Jesus, too, in the Bible, “conjures up violent images.”

Pastor Sean Harris of the Barean Baptist Church in Fayetteville, N.C. retracted the statements of violence but continued to defend his comments about the “importance of gender distinctions that God created,” as well his condemnation of homosexuality, citing the Bible. But he was not able to explain other passages in the Bible, such as those condoning slavery, saying he didn’t realize the interview would “slant and redirect the conversation.”

“I had no idea that the video would be chopped and posted in the blogosphere in a such a manner in which the entirety isn’t understood,” Harris said in an interview on my radio program on SiriusXM OutQ yesterday. “Those were not the best choice of words. If I had to do it over again again I would not choose those words. I was using hyperbole in an effort to communicate the importance of the gender distinctions that God created. I would offer an apology to anyone I have offended. I don’t make an apology for those gender distinctions that are the word of God.”
